Important Privacy information

We are processing personal characteristics, contact details and special category data, such as disability information, for the purpose of processing your LEAP application and creating your student record (only applicable to staff, members of the public and alumni). Your data will only be processed for the reason stated above. The data will be processed in line with the UoM Privacy Policies. When the data is no longer required, it will be securely deleted. We handle the security, integrity and privacy of your data with the utmost care at all times and in line with current Data Protection Legislation.

Enrolment information

Enrolments for full and semester two-only courses for 2024/25 will start from Wednesday, 3 July 2024.

IMPORTANT- Please note that applications for LEAP Korean 1 are currently paused.

  1. Please make sure you check course descriptions and timetables before you complete an application form. Please also note that semester two courses are for complete beginners only, all courses are delivered on campus, and courses start week commencing Monday, 23 September 2024 (full-year courses) and Monday, 27 January 2025 (semester two courses).
  2. Complete the online application form and we aim to respond within 5 days. Enrolments to 2024/25 courses will open on Wednesday, 3 July 2024 at 12pm. For enquiries, please email leap@manchester.ac.uk
  3. You will receive an email offering you a provisional place, with a link for online payment if applicable (non-credited students). Please note that University of Manchester staff members, members of the public and The University of Manchester alumni will not recieve payment information until their Right to Study check is complete. The deadline to make payment is Friday 20th September. Please note places will not be confirmed until payment has been recieved. 
  4. University of Manchester staff members, members of the public and The University of Manchester alumni must complete a Right to Study check. You must complete this check for each new application - even if you have previously completed the check you must complete it again for this academic year. It is essential that you complete this check as soon as possible and studying cannot commence until this check is complete. Once this check is complete, you will receive a link for online payment. Please complete this check as soon as possible and by no later than 5pm on Wednesday 4th September. Unfortunately, if you do not complete this check by 5pm on Wednesday 4th September, we will be unable to progress your application further.  
  5. Non-credited students: Once payment has been received, your place will be confirmed by email. Please view course fees and the refund policy here
  6. University of Manchester staff members, members of the public and The University of Manchester alumni: Once your Right to Study check has been completed and payment has been recieved, your place will be confirmed by email. Please view course fees and the refund policy here
  7. Follow the instructions sent to complete IT sign-up and student registration (staff and members of the public only).
  8. Attend classes.
