Registration
Why do I need to do this?
Registration is vital in order to:
- Have any record of your attendance on a language course in the University system.
- Ensure that your personal enrolment details held by the University are accurate.
- Obtain a student card for the duration of your language course.
- Access the University libraries and other facilities.
Please note: both returning students and new students must register.
Please click on the link above, or copy into your browser and select either 'New students' or 'Returning students' if you were with us last year. Please ignore any information regarding a 'late payment charge' if you register after the deadline set by the University. This is valid only for full-time students at the University.
Then select the 'Registration Portlet in My Manchester'. You will need to log in with your username, e.g. mfbxiskv, given to you during IT Sign Up, and your personal password. If you are a returning student, you should use your given username and password from last year, if you have forgotten this, please visit https://iam.manchester.ac.uk/ and choose recover your IT account. There are three options to choose from:
Option 1: Recover using your personal email address
Option 2: Recover using secret question and answer
Option 3: Recover using a token.
Option 1 and 2 allow you to recover the password yourself. If this fails then you can request a recovery token for option 3 from the IT support centre. You can do this via the IT Support Centre.
If you don't see the 'Register' button in My Manchester, go to 'Tools' in the top right-hand corner, select 'Student System' from the drop-down menu, click on 'Student Centre' and then 'Register'. Please follow the online step-by-step instructions to complete registration, which involves confirming your personal details held by the University. There are guidelines below if you need them.
Your Student Card
You are eligible for a student card for the duration of your LEAP language course. A student card will give you access to the University Language Centre library, the University libraries, the Alan Gilbert Learning Commons, PC clusters and other University facilities, as well as giving you access to many student discounts.
Once you have completed student registration, you can go and collect your student card from the Student Services Centre, open from 9am - 5pm, Monday to Friday (from 10am on Tuesdays)
