Finding a supervisor
Having the right supervisory team is an important part of your postgraduate research.
We ensure the supervisors you are allocated will cover your research specialism and offer a variety of skills and expertise to support your project.
Most potential supervisors in the School will be happy to provide pre-submission feedback on a well-developed draft proposal that closely matches their research expertise. If one of our academics is interested in supervising your work, you may be able to receive advice and critical feedback that helps you to make your proposal stronger and more competitive. This is particularly beneficial if you are considering applying for funding.
We asked some of our supervisors and research students to talk about what it's like to study for a PhD in the School of Arts, Languages and Cultures. Find out what they said about their research interests, what it's like working with your supervisor and being part of our research community.
Our academic staff are listed by subject. Find an appropriate supervisor for your proposal by exploring the staff lists on our subject sites.
