Enrolment information

Please ensure that you have read and understood the information below before submitting an application.

  • Please make sure you check the course descriptions and class timetables before you complete an application form.
  • Please also note that semester two courses are for complete beginners only (with the exception of BSL part 2).
  • We aim to process your application as quickly as possible, please expect a delay caused by peak times.

If you are not currently a student at the University of Manchester;

  • As part of your application, you must complete a Right to Study check. It is essential that you complete this check as soon as possible, as your application cannot be accepted until this check is complete. If you are unable to complete this check by 5pm Friday, 23 January 2026, we will be unable to progress your application further.
  • Applicants who have taken a LEAP course in a previous year of study are able to progress with LEAP without needing to complete a Right to Study check.
  • You will not receive payment information until the LEAP Administration team has been informed that your Right to Study check has been completed. Please view our information on course fees and refund policy.
  • Once you have been accepted onto a LEAP course, you will be provided instructions on how to complete Student Registration and IT sign up. This is so you can receive a student ID card for building access and in order to access online course materials to support your learning.
  • Learning a language will be a challenge, it is important that you attend as many classes as possible especially at the start of the course.
  • If you have any questions at any stage of your application, please read the FAQ page or email the LEAP Administration team: leap@manchester.ac.uk
