New Sounds from Manchester

New Sounds from Manchester (NSM) is The University of Manchester's platform for cutting-edge new music.

Staging one major event each semester, NSM places new student compositions alongside work by some of the biggest names of our time in contemporary composition.

Highlights in recent years have included Karlheinz Stockhausen's Kreuzspiel, Philip Grange's Kingdom of Bones, Harrison Birtwistle's Silbury Air, Gérard Grisey's Partiels, Per Nørgård's Night-Symphonies, Day Breaks and John Casken's Vaganza.

NSM is featured as part of the biannual New Music Northwest Festival, in collaboration with the BBC and the RNCM.
