Manchester University Music Society (MUMS)
Be part of the largest, most active and most ambitious student-led music society in the country.
With over 700 members, the Manchester University Music Society (MUMS) is one of the most active student-run music societies in the country, offering a huge range of musical and work experience opportunities.
Auditioned and non-auditioned ensembles run by MUMS include the Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, Big Band, Brass Band, Wind Orchestra, String Orchestra and MUMS Opera.
The Chorus, the Cosmo Singers and Ad Solem (chamber choir) are run as a separate society, with performances including two annual concerts in the historic Whitworth Hall with Symphony Orchestra.
Students also perform regularly with the Musical Theatre Society, Gilbert and Sullivan Society, MSC Big Band and more.
Performance and competition
MUMS members have had their high standard of music-making publicly recognised throughout the world.
The flagship Symphony Orchestra is at the heart of the Society, having toured to places such as Germany, the Czech Republic, Dublin, Bulgaria and Hungary.
Ad Solem, the University's official chamber choir, have toured around Europe and frequently appear on BBC radio. Our Brass Band won UniBrass two years in a row.
