Careers and employability

If you're an MA student, get access to professional development workshops, career preparation events, workplace visits and much more.

Professional Development Workshops

These workshops are given by invited established professionals who share their experiences with students through structured workshops and activities.

The workshops complement the training you'll receive on the MA in Translation and Interpreting Studies course and equip you with relevant and up-to-date information about professional practices and employment prospects.

Career preparation

We collaborate with The University of Manchester's Careers Service to offer a series of preparation events including:

  • Careers using Languages - a series of presentations by representatives from GCHQ, the European Commission, the European Parliament, and international companies which recruit languages specialists.
  • Enterprising Futures: Find out what it takes to run a business - an opportunity to find out what it takes to become a successful entrepreneur and to learn about the help and support available to individuals interested in starting up a business, now or in the future.

Invited contributors to these events include numerous freelance translators, interpreters, and subtitlers.
