German (Beginners): Anastassia Bolotkova

Anastassia, an Estonian-born member of staff at The University of Manchester, studied Beginners' German at the University Language Centre (ULC).

Why did you choose to study a language at The University of Manchester?

I wanted to refresh my previous knowledge and improve my conversation level.

Apart from class time, how much time did you spend a week on your studies?

I spent around five to ten hours every week on my studies.

How did you find your course in terms of level?

I feel that it was just right.

Have you been able to put your newly acquired language skills to use outside the classroom? If so, please tell us how.

Yes, by travelling to Austria and Germany.

What advice would you give to someone intending to study a language at the University Language Centre?

To use it as much as you can. If you don't use it, you lose it.
