Our postgraduate research programmes offer unrivalled opportunities to work with world class researchers in one of the UK's most innovative graduate research environments.
Manchester has one of the largest History departments in the UK and draws on the leading expertise of more than 40 members of staff and research institutes across the School. We offer specialist knowledge in a broad range of methodological, theoretical, thematic and inter-disciplinary approaches to history.
As a Manchester postgraduate researcher, you will be a member of a vibrant research community, participating in departmental research cultures, seminar and workshop activities, as well as masterclasses with international scholars, with opportunities to take part in cross-sectoral placements and international exchange opportunities.
You will also be able to take advantage of the Graduate School, a space with dedicated research skills training, careers opportunities, graduate reading groups, conferences and masterclasses for PhD students across the School of Arts, Languages and Cultures.
You will have access to one of the largest university libraries in the UK, including the internationally significant special collections of the John Rylands Library.
