RWS Brode Scholarship

Students from lower-income households with a passion for Modern Languages may be eligible for the RWS Brode Scholarship.

Students who fulfil the eligibility criteria below may be awarded £5,000 per annum for up to four years of study.

The fund aims to support 50 undergraduate students joining The University of Manchester between 2019 and 2021 from a state school.

To be eligible for this scholarship, the following conditions must be met:

  • The student’s qualifications were achieved at a state-funded school in the UK
  • The student’s total household income does not exceed £60,000 a year (as verified by the Student Loan Company)
  • The student has achieved high marks in their A-levels or equivalent qualifications (AAB or above)
  • The student applies to (and remains on) either a single honours Modern Languages undergraduate programme, or a dual-language undergraduate programme

Awards will be made according to a sliding scale, benefitting those who have achieved the highest marks relative to the most disadvantaged backgrounds. Applicants will be automatically assessed for this upon registering for their degree programme. Students must be aware that they have to give The University access to relevant records when applying for a Student Loan (we cannot otherwise assess your eligibility).
