Classics for All

The School of Arts, Languages and Cultures encourages both staff and students to be socially responsible citizens, reaching beyond the university to support and develop engagement with local schools and community groups.

Making a difference

Classics for All Manchester is part of a national initiative, working with almost 30 schools in the area.

Through its work, Latin is taking root in multilingual schools across the city by staff delivering lectures, workshops and day-schools on Greek and Latin, and introducing pupils of all ages to the ancient world.

Classical culture is also being championed by The Athena's Owls Project. Faced with the challenge of the COVID-19 lockdown, it has provided fun, home-schooling activities for primary-age children, including a ‘Roman Britain’ primary schools pack.
