Members of the Centre met at the John Rylands Library to inaugurate CMEMS on 24 May 2018, holding an open session to discuss the immediate future, before having a glass of wine with Professor Sullivan and listening to his talk on Book I of the Faerie Queene.

The talk was illustrated with early editions of Spenser's work from the Rylands collections.
